Apparently, there’s a “no wash” policy in place on Downton Abbey so that the costumes can keep their historic look.

“We do stink, as they don’t wash our costumes … they have these weird patches, which are sewn into the armpits and which they wash separately,” cast member McShera revealed to The Telegraph.
